Boris Marelic

Boris Marelic was born in Dubrovnik and attended secondary school in his hometown of Korcula. He graduated with an economics degree from Zagreb University in 1972.

Boris worked as the marketing executive in the major hotel grouping on the island of Korcula. 1972-81.
Between 1981-86, Boris was deputy director of the National Tourist board in London.

He returned to Korcula in 1986 to continue his work as the principle marketing executive for Korculan Hotels. Being involved voluntarily in local community projects, Boris was pro-actively involved in the multinational million-dollar reconstruction of the Gothic Palaco ,,Arneri,, in the Old Town of Korcula, sponsored by the Brown foundation, USA.

Since 1992 Boris has worked for Dalmatian and Istrian Travel, one of the first private companies specialising in tourism for the newly independent Croatian state. This has been Boris’ profession until the present.

During this period, Boris has been actively involved in projects including:
• relief aid and charity work for wartime reconstruction in Croatia and Bosnia;
• TV documentaries;
• and tourist promotion.

Boris has three children; Ana, Vicko and Jakov, lives in London and has a holiday house in Korcula.
